Your Role
As a Lead Software Engineer – Platform, you’ll guide a team of skilled engineers in designing, implementing, and maintaining Alpaca’s core systems, empowering millions of users trading billions in assets.
In this role, you’ll:
- Act as a tech lead for the platform team, architecting scalable solutions.
- Develop well-structured applications in Go, prioritizing testing and observability.
- Optimize Docker images, create Helm charts, and deploy to Kubernetes.
- Drive critical technical decisions to enhance the experience for internal teams and customers.
What You’ll Bring (Must-Haves)
- Kubernetes Expertise: Strong knowledge of K8S objects and cloud-native application development.
- Golang Experience: Proficient in modern, statically typed languages with a focus on concurrency, abstraction, and testing.
- Docker Skills: Proven ability to write highly optimized Dockerfiles.
- Database Proficiency: Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, focusing on large-scale optimized queries.
- Leadership experience as a tech and team lead.
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)
- Advanced Kubernetes knowledge (CKA/CKAD certifications, operator development).
- Experience with Kafka/Redpanda, including message serialization (Protobuf, Flatbuffer).
- Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
- Understanding of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, and concurrency.
- Knowledge of equity/crypto trading and DevOps practices.
